This Shimano XT Triple Front Derailleur FD-M780 is what we'd call a top-swing/low-clamp front derailleur. It's a handy design for many full suspension bikes due to its abbreviated presence on the seat tube. It's situated low on the frame to allow some linkages or swingarms to travel freely without interference.Shimano chose to build their XT group with both double and triple crankset options, just like their flagship XTR. The FD-M780 Front Derailleur is made just for Shimano Dyna-Sys 24/32/42t triple cranksets. The cage radius and plate shapes will optimize the shifting performance.The Shimano XT Triple Front Derailleur FD-M780 is available with two mounting options -- E-Type or Multi-clamp (28.6, 31.8, and 34.9mm). It uses Shimano's Dual Pull lever arm, so it works for top or down tube cable routing.
