New trail open at Gateway Park in Fort Worth

We had a sweet surprise this weekend at Gateway (no, not that kind of surprise!). We went out to ride a few laps and check out a Ventana El Ciclon frameset that we just got in. Man is that a fun bike to ride! Handles and pedals way better than I expected the beefy, all mountain steed to perform. I expect it will sell quickly…but that’s not the point nor the surprise. The surprise was to find nearly 6 miles of new trail open at Gateway! Im not going to try to give a review or anything, other than to say it is mostly single track, has a decent amount of elevation change, is not very technical and is way fun to ride! It’s a little difficult to find the trail head, but basically if you make your way out to the dam (located by the paddling center on Beach St.) and cross over to the south side, you can pick the trail up right there. It meanders out by the freeway and then up, over and thru the woods until you come to a clearing out by 1st street. From there you have to ride about 100 yards on 1st (go left at the street, over the bridge, and drop left into the established trail.) It is well worth the effort to seek out the trail. Hats off to the crew at FWMBA!
